Conference Proposals and Guidelines
|

Proposals for Single Topic Conferences may be submitted to AASLD for consideration at any time. These limited-attendance events focus on the most current and critical topics of liver disease and provide participants the ideal opportunity to exchange research, discuss outcomes, and develop new research interests.

Four to Five Single Topic Conferences (STC) are planned each year

1. The Hepatitis Conference is held in March.

   2. The Henry M and Lillian Stratton Basic Research Conference is held in June.

   3. The Clinical Research Conference is held in September.

   4. The Endpoints Conference is held in December.  (NOTE: The Endpoints STC has a very specific focus and

The selection of topics and organizers will remain the purvey of the Governing Board.)

   5.  Pediatric Single Topic Conference is held every other year.

The locations are predetermined by AASLD. Currently the Basic, Clinical, Endpoints and Pediatric STCs are conducted at the Emory Conference Center in Atlanta, Georgia; the Hepatitis STC takes place in Chicago.

Single Topic Conferences proposals are reviewed by the Basic and Clinical Research Committees during their committee meetings in May and October/November. Basic and Clinical Research Committees are comprised of AASLD members, both regular and international.

How to Apply

Conference proposals are typically submitted 24 months in advance for review. Course Directors are required to follow standardized guidelines, that include a proposed course content as well as a completed Activity Proposal form. Proposals are evaluated based on timeliness of the topic, content, and perceived need. The Committee Chairs, following review by the Basic and Clinical Research Committees, will notify applicants whether the proposal is accepted and if any changes are recommended.

In addition to addressing the issues of timeliness, content and perceived need, proposals must include:

   1. Target audience

   2. Expected outcomes

   3. Description, goals and objectives

The AASLD office is happy to work with potential applicants to ensure that proposals meet the required criteria prior to evaluation. For further questions or submission of proposals, please contact Janeil Klett, email: jklett@aasld.org, Tel: (703) 299-9766

The AASLD Governing Board has designated funding to support the Association’s Single Topic Conferences. Support by Roche Pharmaceuticals for the Hepatitis Single Topic Conference Endowment and The Henry M. and Lillian Stratton Estate for the Basic Research Single Topic Conference is gratefully acknowledged.
