Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Statement

During The Liver Meeting®, designated sessions and the Postgraduate Course are offering the opportunity to earn ABIM MOC points. Successful completion of these CME activities, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 18.50 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.

How to earn MOC:

  • Attend designated MOC session(s) (listing below)
  • Claim CME for the session(s) (ABIM Rule: MOC points must be equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity.)
  • Pass the online evaluation(s) posted in LiverLearning® with a minimum score of 70%

When/Where to access MOC

  • During the sessions or after in your hotel room or at home, and/or at Tech Connect.
  • Go to LiverLearning®
    • Sign in using your AASLD website username and password
    • Click on The Liver Meeting® 2016 Attendees MOC Assessment Center
    • Click on the Postgraduate or Liver Meeting activity
    • Click on and complete the ABIM Required Data section
    • Click on the name of the course/session and then click on “Assessment/” Once you have passed with a 70% or higher you have successfully completed the activity
  • AASLD submits MOC points on behalf of its learners to ABIM once a month between 15th-20th. Points are not submitted automatically and will not display immediately on your ABIM MOC Profile.

MOC Deadlines

  • December 15, 2016: for points to be submitted/counted for 2016
  • March 31, 2017: Requests for MOC after this date will not be honored.

Boards' Acceptance Status of AASLD MOC

The Liver Meeting ® 2016 and 2016 Postgraduate Course MOC activities have only been approved for MOC points through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) will not accept these activities for MOC.* If you are certified by another board you may be able to use your CME certificate for MOC or you may be able to ask for reciprocity (but your board may not grant it).

*Starting in January 2017 ABP will accept AASLD MOC activities.
