The Scientific Management Review Board

The NIH’s Scientific Management Review Board (SMRB) will be holding its first meeting on April 27 and 28 to address issues including the possible restructuring of the NIH.  On the agenda is a discussion of whether or not to investigate the possibility of combining the National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) and National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA). Dr. Gyongyi Szabo, Chair of the AASLD’s NIH Liaison Committee has agreed to represent the Association and present oral and written comments on its behalf to the SMRB on this matter. The meeting is open to the public and written comments are welcome from the public. In addition, the meeting will be webcast.
