Research, advancing human health, and developing the next generation of hepatologists, liver transplant surgeons, and allied health professionals are among AASLD's highest priorities.
Each year, AASLD supports 
research and career development awards in advanced/transplant hepatology, clinical hepatology, and basic and translational research. In 2007, funding for these awards exceeded $3 million, forty percent of which was committed from AASLD's own discretionary funds.
