Ethical Challenges in Data Management and Publication of Hepatology Research
November 1, 2009
3:00 – 4:30 pm
Moderators:

There is little formal training or discussion about minimum standards for data management and its suitability for publication.  This program will use interactive discussion and audience participation to explore the opportunities and challenges in data management and publication of laboratory and clinical research in hepatology.  It will be of particular interest for trainees, junior faculty, and those interested in research education and publication.

Goals and Objectives:
• Understand the principles and challenges of data management for laboratory and clinical studies.

• Determine and discuss suitability and appropriateness of data for publication and other ethical issues relevant to publication of data.

• Identify areas of existing controversy relating to data management and its publication.

Panel of experts:
Michael R. Lucey, MD
D. Montgomery Bissell, MD
E. Jenny Heathcote, MD
John Iredale, MD
