Anna S. Lok, MDAs requested by the AASLD Membership and Mentorship Committee and approved by the AASLD Governing Board, we have developed a Mentoring Program between Fellows of AASLD (FAASLD) and fellows-in-training and early-career hepatologists.

The intent of this program is to match FAASLD members with trainee members and hepatologists within two years of training in areas of interest to include research, career development, work/life balance, clinical practice and more.

This mentor/mentee relationship will initiate during The Liver Meeting® 2017 and then virtually, via Skype, email or telephone, or in person depending on location of the mentor/mentee pair. The time commitment will be for at least 12 months and can continue if mutually agreed upon by the mentor and mentee.

Who is Involved

Mentors: Regular, International and Emeritus Members with the FAASLD designation
Mentees: AASLD trainee members who are 3rd year combined GI/Hepatology fellows, 4th year advanced hepatology transplant fellows and those within two years of training.

Mentor/Mentee assignments will be made in late-September and everyone notified of acceptance in the program.

A reception will be held during The Liver Meeting® 2017 on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at the Marriott Marquis to introduce the mentors to the mentees. Guidelines about mentor/mentee contact will be distributed prior to attendance at The Liver Meeting®.

Once you have decided to participate, you need to sign up by Monday, September 18, 2017. We will then send you information about your “mentee” and information about the reception being held at the Marriott Marquis on Saturday, October 21 at 6:30 – 7:30 pm.

For more information, contact Bette Anne Preston in the AASLD office at or by calling 703-740-2219.
