As we continue to maneuver through a pandemic, many are still reeling from the overall toll that has occurred in the last year. In the September issue of Liver Transplantation, we focus on the impact of the global coronavirus disease 19 (COVID-19) pandemic on patients with end-stage liver disease (ESLD) and who have undergone liver transplantation (LT). The uncertainty of the pandemic has wreaked havoc on the global community and especially in immunocompromised individuals. Many knowledge gaps remain as new information and sciences come to light. Yet, we hope this focused issue will provide some clarity on guidance for the management of those with ESLD and LT recipients as well as identify the next steps forward in order to better protect our patients.
