As you know, inequalities continue to exist in both the research of Digestive and Liver diseases and the care of patients with those diseases. If you’re attending Digestive Disease Week® (DDW), you won’t want to miss the DDW Diversity Symposium. During this event, faculty and participants will discuss how the Digestive and Liver Disease communities can create a more diverse, equitable and inclusive environment that ultimately will improve the health of our communities and create a workplace where providers can thrive.

The symposium takes place in person Monday, May 23, 2022, from 4–5:30 p.m., in Room 23 of the San Diego Convention Center (SDCC). Participants will leave knowing how to:

  • Recognize the benefits of creating a more equitable and inclusive environment for their colleagues and the Digestive Disease and Liver communities.
  • Implement strategies, including workplace policies, that promote a diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace.
  • Implement useful tips for increasing the recruitment of diverse populations in GI and Liver Disease research.

This session will conclude with a panel discussion of engaging and timely topics focused on diversity. Come and join the conversation!

DDW® Diversity Reception

Immediately following the symposium, a reception will take place from 5:30–6:30 p.m. in the lobby of Room 23. This special event will celebrate diversity and promote relationship-building among underrepresented populations working in GI and Liver communities. Don’t miss this opportunity to network with your colleagues, explore professional opportunities and exchange ideas. This reception is supported by Takeda Pharmaceuticals U.S.A., Inc.

The Diversity Symposium and Reception are two of many learning and networking opportunities DDW participants will enjoy! If you haven’t registered for DDW yet, there’s still time. AASLD members save $325 over non-members on registration. So don’t wait, register for DDW today!
