Nurses play a vital role in providing health services. These are the people who devote their lives to giving lifesaving immunizations and health advice, and generally meeting everyday essential health needs. They are often, the first and only point of care in their communities. The world needs millions more nurses if it is to achieve universal health coverage by 2030.
That’s why the World Health Organization has designated 2020 the International Year of the Nurse [and the Midwife].
AASLD joins in this recognition of nurses, and specifically all that they contribute to the field of hepatology. Throughout 2020, AASLD will profile its members who are nurses, and share their stories via the website, emails, AASLD News and social media. When talking in social media about the important role that nurses play, we encourage you to use #YearOfTheNurse and #AASLDheartsRNs.
