Biography

Dr. Helen S. Te is a Professor of Medicine in the Section of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at the University of Chicago Medicine. She served as Medical Director of the Adult Liver Transplant Program for 19 years, concluding her tenure in June 2025. For more than 25 years, Dr. Te has provided expert care in both general and transplant hepatology, guided by a personalized, innovative approach to patient management. Her dedication and clinical excellence have earned her consistent recognition, including 14 consecutive years as one of America's Top Doctors and Chicago Magazine's Top Doctors. In 2021, she was honored with the Physician of Distinction award by the American Society of Transplantation. A respected leader in her field, Dr. Te has held key roles in national professional organizations such as the American Society of Transplantation and the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases.
