Bin Gao, MD, PhD
Biography
Bin Gao, M.D., PhD, is Chief of Laboratory of Liver Diseases, National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland, USA. He received his medical training and Ph.D. in immunology from China, respectively. Following postdoctoral training at the NIAAA/NIH and Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) School of Medicine, he served as a tenure track Assistant Professor at VCU from 1995 to 2000. In 2000, Dr. Gao joined the NIAAA/NIH and established the Section on Liver Biology and later in 2009 established the Laboratory of Liver Diseases. Dr. Gao's research focuses on studying basic liver immunology and liver biology and investigating the pathogenesis and novel therapeutic targets of alcohol-associated liver disease and liver cancer.Dr. Gao is an elected member of the American Society of Clinical Investigation (ASCI) and is currently serving or has served on the editorial board for JCI, Gut, Gastroenterology, JHep, Hepatology, CMGH, etc., and as Associated Editors for JCI, JHep, Cell. Mol. Immunol., eGastroenterology etc.
