Biography

After completing his undergraduate degree at the University of Oregon, medical degree at Yale, residency at the University of Wisconsin and fellowship training at UCSF, Dr. Tetri was recruited to SLU in 1991 by the late Bruce Bacon to help build an academic Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. His specific area of interest is the molecular basis of metabolic dysfunction associated steatohepatitis. His perspective on MASH is that the accumulation of triglyceride in hepatocytes is a distracting epiphenomenon and that the understanding of MASH will be derived from understanding the role of other lipid species in causing hepatocyte stress and death. When not at his academic home at SLU, he can often be found hiking or skiing in the mountains of the west.
