Calvin Q. Pan
Biography
Calvin Q. Pan, MD, is Professor of Medicine at NYU Langone Health and NYU Grossman School of Medicine. He earned his medical degree from the State University of New York and completed his residency and fellowship training in New York before joining the faculty of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where he rose to the rank of Associate Professor. In 2012, he was appointed Professor of Medicine at NYU Grossman School of Medicine.An internationally recognized hepatologist and clinical investigator, Dr. Pan's research has focused particularly on chronic hepatitis B, prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HBV, antiviral therapy, HBV functional cure, hepatocellular carcinoma, and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease. Dr. Pan has led more than 60 clinical trials and authored over 180 peer-reviewed publications, including first- and/or corresponding-author publications in The New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA, Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy, Gut, The Lancet Regional Health, Hepatology, and the Journal of Hepatology.Dr. Pan has co-authored 12 international practice guidelines, contributing to standards of care in hepatitis B and metabolic liver disease. He has held key leadership positions in professional societies, including Chair of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) Hepatitis B Special Interest Group and Co-Chair of the AASLD Hepatitis B Practice Guidance. He currently co-chairs World Gastroenterology Organisation guideline initiatives on hepatitis B and hepatocellular carcinoma.His contributions to medicine and hepatitis research have been recognized nationally and internationally, including the James D. Bruce Memorial Award from the American College of Physicians, the Outstanding Contribution Award from the Chinese Society of Infectious Diseases, and election as a Master of the American College of Physicians (MACP).
