Biography
Dr. David C. Fipps, DO, is a transplant psychiatrist with subspecialty training in Consultation Liaison psychiatry and Addictions Psychiatry at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Embedded within the Mayo Clinic Transplant Center, he provides psychiatric consultation and psychosocial assessment for candidates and recipients of heart, lung, liver, kidney, and vascular composite allograft transplantation. His clinical and scholarly interests include transplant candidate selection, substance use disorders in transplantation, biomarker-guided assessment of alcohol use, psychosocial outcomes after transplantation, and the integration of consultation-liaison and addiction psychiatry within transplant medicine. Dr. Fipps is actively involved in national leadership through the Academy of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry, where he serves in multiple educational and scholarly roles. His research focuses on optimizing psychosocial evaluation practices, improving transplant outcomes, and advancing evidence-based approaches to complex ethical and behavioral health issues in transplantation.
