Biography

David Thomas the Stanhope Bayne-Jones Professor of Medicine at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. His research is focused on hepatitis virus infections especially as they affect persons with HIV. Dr. Thomas led the Division of Infectious Diseases from 2006-2022 and has served the National Institutes of Health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, American Association of Liver Disease, Infectious Diseases Society of America, the Conference on Retroviruses and Associated Infections, the American Association of Physicians and the associated biomedical journals in multiple leadership/editorial capacities. Dr. Thomas is a member of ASCI (2001), AAP (2011), and received the Society Citation Award from Infectious Diseases Association of America (2014) and national and local awards for outstanding mentoring.
