Biography
David D. Lee, MD is Associate Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School and Surgical Director of Liver Transplantation and Quality Director at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) in Boston, Massachusetts. He also serves as Associate Editor of Liver Transplantation.Dr. Lee's clinical and research interests focus on expanding access to liver transplantation and optimizing outcomes for patients with end-stage liver disease and hepatocellular carcinoma. His work spans donation after circulatory death (DCD) liver transplantation, normothermic regional perfusion and organ preservation, hepatocellular carcinoma recurrence prediction, post-transplant management and complications, and transplant equity and disparities.Dr. Lee is actively engaged in national liver transplantation policy, serving on OPTN task forces and advisory roles with organ procurement organizations. He trained at the University of Michigan (BA, MD), completed his surgical residency at Rush University Medical College, and returned to Michigan for fellowship training in transplantation.
