Gabriel Mezzano, MD

Gabriel Mezzano Puentes, MD, is a gastroenterologist and hepatologist in Santiago, Chile. He is Head of the Center for Digestive Diseases at Clínica Universidad de los Andes and a member of the liver transplant team at Hospital del Salvador. He serves on the faculty of the School of Medicine, Universidad de Chile, where he directs the Gastroenterology Specialist Program. His clinical and research interests center on portal hypertension, acute-on-chronic liver failure, and drug-induced liver injury, and he serves as principal investigator on clinical trials in liver disease. He is an active member of ALEH and ACCHEP and contributes to international consensus working groups on ACLF, including efforts to harmonize DILI/HILI-associated ACLF definitions.
