Grant Wyper, PhD
Biography
Dr Grant Wyper is a Principal Epidemiologist at Public Health Scotland and an Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the University of Glasgow. He holds a BSc (Hons), an MSc, and completed his PhD thesis at the University of Glasgow, which focused on enhancing the methodology and application of burden of disease frameworks.His research expertise lies in population health metrics, health inequalities, and the evaluation of public health policy interventions. Notably, Dr Wyper has led and contributed to key evaluations of Scotland's landmark Minimum Unit Pricing policy for alcohol, investigating its impacts on health outcomes, alcohol-attributable mortality, hospital admissions, and health inequalities. His work also spans health demography and the use of foresight and scenario modelling to assess emerging public health challenges.
