Integrating Noninvasive Diagnostics, Precision Risk Prediction, and Novel Therapeutic Strategies in Chronic Liver Disease
Description
The management of chronic liver disease is rapidly evolving from static assessments of fibrosis toward a more comprehensive, precision-based approach that incorporates advanced imaging, noninvasive biomarkers, and emerging therapeutic strategies. Across diverse etiologies—including MASLD, MetALD, alcohol-associated liver disease, cured hepatitis C, and cirrhosis—novel tools are improving clinicians' ability to predict decompensation, identify clinically significant portal hypertension, and personalize treatment decisions. This session will highlight innovative approaches that combine liver stiffness measurements with clinical risk scores, introduce simplified point-of-care strategies for diagnosing portal hypertension, and examine the impact of commonly used metabolic therapies such as statins and SGLT2 inhibitors on liver-related outcomes. In addition, speakers will explore the growing recognition of extrahepatic manifestations of cirrhosis, including the relationship between autonomic dysfunction, sleep physiology, and cognitive impairment.
