Biography

I am Islam B. Mohamed, MD, MSc, a hepatology clinical fellow at the NIH/NIDDK, with prior training in hepatology and liver transplantation at Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt, and research experience at Baylor College of Medicine. At Baylor, I contributed to clinical research investigating the role of microbiome-based therapy for severe alcohol-associated hepatitis, socioeconomic disparities in access to liver transplantation, and predictors of alcohol relapse following transplant evaluation. My research focuses on alcohol-associated liver disease, alcohol use disorder, and transplant outcomes. I aim to advance clinical trials that improve management of ALD.
