Biography

Karn Wijarnpreecha, M.D., M.P.H., is a Transplant Hepatologist at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. He previously served as Associate Professor of Medicine and Director of Clinical Research in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Arizona College of Medicine–Phoenix and Banner University Medical Center Phoenix. He is board-certified in internal medicine, gastroenterology, transplant hepatology, and obesity medicine.Dr. Wijarnpreecha is an active physician-scientist with research interests in the epidemiology of steatotic liver disease, including metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) and alcohol-associated liver disease (ALD), liver transplantation outcomes, and health disparities in liver disease. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and regularly presents at national and international scientific conferences.A dedicated educator and mentor, Dr. Wijarnpreecha is actively involved in the education and mentorship of medical students, residents, fellows, and early-career investigators. He has mentored several residents through the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) Emerging Liver Scholar Program and is committed to fostering the next generation of academic hepatologists. He is a member of major professional societies dedicated to liver disease and has served on committees for the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD).
