Biography

Marco Arrese, MD (Santiago, Chile, 1964) is a Professor of Medicine in the Department of Gastroenterology at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile School of Medicine in Santiago. Trained in Chile and the U.S. (Yale University), he is an expert in liver diseases who has focused his research activities on both cholestatic and fatty liver diseases. He has published more than 300 peer-reviewed papers on gastrointestinal and liver diseases in high-impact factor journals and delivered lectures at national and international meetings. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP) and the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (FAASLD), as well as a member of the European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL). He has also served as president of the Chilean Society of Gastroenterology and the Chilean Association of Hepatology, and he is currently the vice president of the Latin American Association for the Study of the Liver (ALEH).
