Mario Romeo, MD

Mario Romeo, MD, PhD, is a gastroenterologist and hepatologist at the University Hospital of Campania "Luigi Vanvitelli," Naples, Italy. His research program focuses on precision hepatology and biology-driven phenotyping of chronic liver diseases, integrating genetic, metabolic, environmental and pathophysiological determinants with non-invasive biomarkers to improve individualized risk stratification and therapeutic decision-making. His main areas of interest include metabolic liver disease, cholangiopathies, cirrhosis and portal hypertension. He has undertaken international research training at University Hospital Centre Zagreb and Hospital Clínic Barcelona and is actively involved in translational and multicentre hepatology research.
