Michael Kriss, MD
Biography
Michael Kriss, MD, FAST, is a hepatologist at Essentia Health-St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth, Minnesota, where he provides advanced hepatology care to patients throughout the Northland. Previously, he was on the faculty at the University of Colorado, serving as a transplant hepatologist within the liver transplant program. During his time there, he held several leadership roles, including Physician Informaticist for the Colorado Center for Transplantation Care, Research and Education (CCTCARE) and Associate Program Director of the Transplant Hepatology Fellowship.His clinical practice is focused on improving care for patients with chronic liver disease and expanding access to advanced hepatology services. In addition to his active involvement in AASLD, he has been recognized for his leadership at the national level and currently serves as Co-Chair of the Liver and Intestine Community of Practice for the American Society of Transplantation.Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family, embraces "type 2 fun"—whether on two wheels or two skis—and is a budding permaculture farmer.
