Nicolas Barros, MD
Biography
Nicolas Barros, MD is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the Indiana University School of Medicine and serves as Medical Director of Transplant Infectious Diseases at IU Health University Hospital. He received his medical degree from Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia and completed residency training in Internal Medicine and fellowship training in Infectious Diseases at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. He subsequently completed advanced training in Transplant Infectious Diseases at Massachusetts General Hospital.Dr. Barros specializes in the care of immunocompromised patients, including solid organ and hematopoietic stem cell transplant recipients. His clinical and research interests focus on transplant infectious diseases, donor-derived infections, and endemic mycoses, particularly histoplasmosis. He is actively involved in clinical research, medical education, and the development of innovative approaches to improve the diagnosis and management of infections in transplant recipients.
