Nidhi Jalan-Sakrikar, PhD
Biography
Dr. Nidhi Jalan-Sakrikar, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Mayo Clinic, with a joint appointment in the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology. She leads an independent research program focused on immune-mediated mechanisms that drive inflammation and fibrosis in PSC, a chronic cholestatic liver disease characterized by progressive bile duct injury. Her laboratory employs an integrated experimental framework spanning cell and molecular biology, biochemistry, in vivo models, and translational studies using patient-derived samples. A major emphasis of her work is defining how cholangiocyte-derived inflammatory programs shape the hepatic immune microenvironment, particularly pathways governing neutrophil recruitment and effector function, and how these responses contribute to fibroinflammatory injury.
