Nizar Talaat, MD
Biography
I am an Associate Professor of Medicine and Program Director of the Transplant Hepatology Fellowship at the University of Kansas Health System. I'm a gastroenterologist, transplant hepatologist, and clinical informaticist at KU. I currently serve as the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Informatics Officer and Solid Organ Transplant Informatics Lead. I'm an active member in the AASLD Communication and Technology Committee in addition to the Clinical Informatics and Digital Health Special Interest Group. In addition, I serve as Chair of the Hepatology Specialty Steering Board at Epic, collaborating with national leaders to shape the future of hepatology workflows and digital health tools.My work sits at the intersection of hepatology, medical education, and clinical informatics, where I focus on improving patient care, advancing physician training, and optimizing healthcare delivery through technology. I enjoy finding practical solutions to complex challenges and leveraging technology to improve patient outcomes, physician efficiency, and healthcare systems.Whether caring for patients with advanced liver disease, training the next generation of hepatologists, or leading informatics initiatives, I am passionate about turning ideas into action and creating meaningful, measurable impact.
