Biography
Consultant Hepatologist at Egyptian Liver Research Institute and Hospital. I hold a PhD in Gastroenterology and Hepatology and am also a Lecturer in Gastroenterology and Hepatology Medicine. My research focuses particularly on HCC prediction and personalised surveillance, hepatitis elimination, non-invasive assessment of liver disease and innovative diagnostics for hepatitis C. I have led community-based hepatitis elimination initiatives, including the Educate, Test & Treat programme, and have contributed to numerous international publications and clinical trials. I have received the following awards :-The Rosalyn and Leo Fried Memorial Award, AASLD Liver Meeting 2023, for the abstract "Very Low Detection Limit for a Novel Point-of-Care Test of HCV Viraemia Using Temperature-Sensitive Smart Polymer Technology."-The Raymond Schinazi and Family Scholarship Award, Global Hepatitis Summit 2023, for your work on a novel temperature-sensitive smart polymer technology for HCV antigen extraction and enrichment.-Poster of Distinction, AASLD 2015, for "Sofosbuvir plus Ribavirin in the Treatment of Egyptian Patients with Chronic Genotype 4 HCV Infection."
