Sonali Paul, MD, MS
Biography
Dr. Sonali Paul is Associate Professor of Medicine and Section Chief of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at the University of Chicago. A transplant hepatologist, her clinical and research interests focus on metabolic dysfunction–associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), obesity medicine, and liver transplantation.Dr. Paul is also a dedicated advocate for health equity and LGBTQ+ inclusion. She serves as Executive Director of Rainbows in Gastro, a nonprofit organization supporting LGBTQ+ medical trainees and physicians, and as Associate Vice-Chair for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and Associate Program Director for the Internal Medicine Residency Program at the University of Chicago. Through these roles, she advances inclusive medical education, mentorship, advocacy, and community engagement.
