Biography
Dr. Surakit Pungpapong is a Professor of Medicine at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and a Consultant Hepatologist at Mayo Clinic Florida. He earned his medical degree from Chulalongkorn University in Thailand and completed fellowship training in Gastroenterology and Transplant Hepatology at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, and Rochester, Minnesota. His research interests focus on viral hepatitis, including hepatitis B and hepatitis C, and solid organ transplantation. His work encompasses the management of viral hepatitis before and after liver transplantation and non-liver solid organ transplantation, the impact of viral hepatitis on transplant outcomes, and the development of strategies to improve both short-term and long-term outcomes in transplant recipients with viral hepatitis.
