Tatsuya Kanto, MD, PhD

Tatsuya Kanto is a researcher and hepatologist/physician with expertise in immunology in liver diseases. He earned a PhD at Osaka University and worked as a research associate in dendritic cell biology at the University of Pittsburgh, USA, from 1998 to 2001. He worked as an Associate Professor at Osaka University from 2003 to 2013 and moved to the National Center for Global Health and Medicine (NCGM). His current position is Director General at the Research Center for Hepatitis and Immunology, Japan Institute for Health Security (JIHS). He has been working with the Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare to promote the Hepatitis Action Plan in Japan. His field of interest is the exploration of the pathogenesis of liver disease to develop immune-based therapies against viral hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, and cancer.
