Biography
Won Kim, MD, PhD, is Professor of Internal Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Seoul National University College of Medicine and Seoul Metropolitan Government Seoul National University Boramae Medical Center, Korea. He currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of Clinical and Molecular Hepatology (2025 JCR Impact Factor: 21.7).Dr. Kim is a clinical and translational hepatologist whose work focuses on MASLD/MASH, liver fibrosis, and precision hepatology. His research integrates large-scale clinical cohorts, multi-omics approaches, digital pathology, and translational models to define disease heterogeneity and identify noninvasive biomarkers and therapeutic targets for high-risk MASH and advanced fibrosis.Beyond his research, Dr. Kim has played key leadership roles in the Korean hepatology community, including as Director of the Publication Committee of the Korean Association for the Study of the Liver and President of the Korean Alcohol-related Problems Study Group. He has also served as Associate Editor of Gut and Liver and leads the Innovative Target Exploration of NAFLD (ITEN) Consortium, a multidisciplinary initiative focused on biomarker discovery and therapeutic target development in MASLD/MASH.
