Ruben Hernaez, MD, MPH, PhD
Biography
I am an American, Spanish-trained physician, quadruple board-certified in Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology, Transplant Hepatology and Obesity Medicine. Since I joined the VA in August 2016, I have been pursuing the triple threat: to boost hepatology education of residents and fellows, to have clinical excellence, and to excel in hepatology research. My areas of interests are outcomes research in chronic liver diseases, acute-on-chronic liver diseases and prognostic modeling. During my free time I like spending time with my family, watching movies, cooking pizza and trying to survive in CrossFit.
