Biography

Takeshi Saito, M.D., Ph.D., is a physician scientist and currently Associate Professor of Medicine at Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California. His research interest has been centered on the innate immunity and inflammation of the liver in the context of viral hepatitis (HCV, HBV, and HDV), and metabolic liver diseases (alcoholic liver disease and NAFLD). His research program employs cutting-edge experimental platforms, such as humanized liver chimeric mice and primary human hepatocytes with unique culture configurations, to comprehend the hepatocytic response to viral or metabolic insults with the ultimate goal to translate the insights into the development of better preventative and therapeutic strategies. Dr. Saito is a member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation and also serves as editorial board member for multiple prestigious journals as well as the standing member of NIH study section.
