Cody is the parent of a pediatric liver recipient. His daughter received a liver transplant in 2021 at Texas Children's Hospital after she was diagnosed with Biliary Atresia shortly after she was born in 2019 at Oklahoma Children's Hospital. He credits the transplant team and surgeons for allowing his daughter to thrive after her transplant. Cody serves as the Region 4 representative on the OPTN Patient Affairs Committee, a board member for TRIO-Oklahoma and a member of the Biliary Atresia Research and Education (BARE) Taskforce. He, his wife Kellie and their children are citizens of the Chickasaw Nation and reside in Tishomingo, Oklahoma.
