Biography

Dr Giada Sebastiani is a Professor of Medicine and Clinician Scientist at the McGill University Health Centre. Her clinical and research expertise focuses on metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) and non-invasive diagnostics in liver disease, with a strong emphasis on vulnerable and underserved populations. She leads a nationally-funded research program, integrating epidemiology, patient-centered strategies, and policy translation. Dr Sebastiani is the President of the Canadian Association for the Study of the Liver, and co-founder of the Canadian MASLD Network. Her work has shaped national and international guidelines, including chairing the first MASLD chapter of Diabetes Canada, and leading the liver chapter of the European AIDS Clinical Society. Dr Sebastiani is profoundly engaged in knowledge dissemination and advocacy, including public outreach and government briefings. As a mentor, she has supported the academic careers of numerous trainees across disciplines and continents, and remains deeply committed to advancing equitable liver health.
