Biography

Dr. Bogdanov was born and raised in San Francisco, CA before moving to Los Angeles for his education and training. He obtained his BS in Biochemistry from UCLA, and his MD from the Keck School of Medicine of USC where he remains for his internal medicine residency. Dr. Bogdanov has over twelve years of basic and translational research experience with expertise in tissue injury and regeneration, cellular and molecular signaling, and small molecule drug discovery. Dr. Bogdanov is currently a post-doctoral researcher in the laboratory of Dr. Lily Dara, where he studies key cellular interactions and signaling events driving immune-mediated liver injury from immune checkpoint inhibitor use (ILICI), autoimmune hepatitis, and primary biliary cholangitis. Recent notable work includes development of a murine injury model for ILICI described in the journal Cell Death & Disease, and characterization of immune composition and cell death signaling in liver biopsies from patients with ILICI, AIH, and PBC using novel imaging mass cytometry. Dr. Bogdanov is interested in pursuing a career in academic hepatology and gastroenterology.
