His laboratory integrates single-cell transcriptomics, imaging mass cytometry, and human protein microarrays to identify disease-specific immune responses. Recently, his group identified anti-DOK2 antibodies as novel serological markers in autoimmune hepatitis, providing insights into disease pathogenesis and potential therapeutic targets. Dr. Abe is board certified in gastroenterology, hepatology, internal medicine, and ultrasonography. He serves as councilor of the Japanese Society of Gastroenterology, the Japan Society of Hepatology, and the Japanese Society of Gastrointestinal Immunology. His work has been recognized with awards including Poster of Distinction at Digestive Disease Week (2006), the Research Encouragement Award from the Japan Society of Hepatology (2018), and the Best Paper Award from the Japanese Society of Clinical Molecular Morphology (2025).
