Biography

Nitzan Roth, MD PhD (she/her/hers) is a transplant hepatologist at Northwell Health and an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. She is the Director of the Women's Liver Health Program in conjunction with the Katz Institute for Women's Health, an Associate Program Director for the Gastroenterology fellowship based at North Shore University Hospital (NSUH) and Long Island Jewish Medical Center (LIJMC), and the Associate Program Director for the Transplant Hepatology fellowship based at NSUH. She completed her undergraduate degree at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) and received her MD and PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Southern California. She completed her Internal Medicine residency training and Gastroenterology fellowship at the Los Angeles County – University of Southern California Medical Center (LAC-USC) from 2011-2017 prior to moving to New York to complete an additional Advanced and Transplant Hepatology fellowship at the Mount Sinai Medical Center from 2017-2018. She is board certified in Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology, and Transplant Hepatology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Her special interests include prevention and multidisciplinary treatment of alcohol-associated liver diseases; evaluation and management of liver disease during pregnancy; congestive hepatopathy and combined heart-liver transplantation; and inclusive liver care in transgender and gender diverse patients.
