Biography

Dr. He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine at Emory University. His research focuses on identifying novel regulators of systemic and cellular iron homeostasis and elucidating how disrupted iron metabolism contributes to the progression of liver diseases, including metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), alcohol-associated liver disease (ALD), and diabetes-associated liver injury. Dr. He is particularly interested in the role of mitochondrial iron dyshomeostasis in promoting oxidative mitochondrial damage and hepatic cell death (e.g., ferroptosis).
