Dr. Kushner is an Associate Professor in the Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology at Weill Cornell Medicine, and holds a joint appointment in the Division of Obstetrics & Gynecology. She has a clinical and research focus on liver disease in pregnancy and in viral hepatitis. Her research interests focus on delineating the influence of chronic liver disease (such as MASLD and viral hepatitis) on pregnancy outcomes, developing improved detection and management of liver diseases during pregnancy (such as cholestasis of pregnancy and other liver diseases in pregnancy), and improved understanding of the interaction of liver disease with pregnancy. In addition, her clinical research program also focuses on delineating the epidemiology and outcomes of individuals living with viral hepatitis, such as delta hepatitis, and developing interventions to optimize detection and treatment of viral hepatitis. Her work has been published in numerous gastroenterology and liver journals. She is the Chair of the AASLD Women's Initiatives Committee, member of the AASLD/ IDSA HCV Guidance committee, and a member of the Global Liver Council Viral Hepatitis Committee. She is a member of the AASLD HBV and HCV SIGs.
