Objectives

  • Identify social determinants of health (SDOH) and health behaviors impacting liver disease and the role that they play in patient advocacy and barriers to health care.
  • List interventions to address the impact of SDOH and health behaviors on multidisciplinary hepatology care.
  • Given the impact that cultural and language differences can have on the care of hepatology and liver transplant patients, outline mechanisms to deliver culturally-informed and language-concordant care.
  • Indicate the ways in which community-based research initiatives can address some of the challenges health care practitioners face in providing individualized care to a diverse patient population.
