Kerry M. Sivia
Biography
Kerry Sivia is a patient advocate living with metabolic dysfunction–associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD/MASH), autoimmune hepatitis, primary biliary cholangitis (PBC), and cirrhosis. Since receiving her diagnoses in 2021, she has established a national and international presence in hepatology patient advocacy, with a focus on multidisciplinary collaboration, health equity, and incorporating the lived experience of people affected by liver disease into clinical care, research, and education.She is an alumna of the inaugural cohort of the Dr. Stephen A. Harrison Patient Advocacy Fellowship and collaborates with national and international organizations, including United Liver, Fatty Liver Alliance, Fatty Liver Foundation, The Global NASH/MASH Council, and Madrigal Pharmaceuticals. She has contributed to educational initiatives, listening sessions, and campaigns that elevate the voices of people living with liver and metabolic conditions.She has spoken at The Liver Meeting 2025 and Digestive Disease Week 2026, presenting the patient perspective on nutrition and lifestyle interventions in MASLD/MASH. She has also been featured in UChicago Medicine's Forefront magazine, Diabetologia, Health Monitor, and WebMD, sharing her story and raising awareness of the importance of early detection of liver disease.Her advocacy focuses on advancing equitable care, strengthening clinician–patient partnerships, incorporating patient perspectives into clinical research and policy, and ensuring that lived experience informs how liver disease is understood and addressed.
