Dr. Ali graduated from Ayub Medical College in Pakistan before pursuing a post-doctoral research fellowship in the laboratory of Dr. Theo Heller at the National Institutes of Health. Here she researched the role of the gut-liver axis in liver disease in a translational setting. After this, she transitioned to an internal medicine residency at Duke University Hospital before completing her fellowship in Gastroenterology at the Mount Sinai Hospital. She is currently completing her final year of training in Transplant Hepatology at Northwestern University Hospital in Chicago. She has continued her research in chronic liver diseases with a predominant focus on the link between MASLD and Cardiovascular Diseases under the mentorship of Dr. Meena Bansal. She has been a member of the AASLD practice guidelines committee, is a trainee member of the AASLD SIG for Liver Fibrosis and was an AASLD Emerging Liver Scholar during residency.
