Biography

Dr. Monga is the SVC Endowed Chair in Pathobiology and Therapeutics and Professor of Pharmacology and Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh. He is the Chair/Director of the Organ Pathobiology and Therapeutics Institute. He is also the director of the Pittsburgh Liver Research Center, an NIDDK P30 funded Digestive Disease Research Core Center and the program director of the Cellular Approaches to Tissue Engineering and Regeneration, NIBIB T32 funded predoctoral training program. He serves as the Associate Dean of Research for the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. His research is focused on understanding cellular and molecular underpinnings of liver development, injury, repair and tumors. His research is supported by multiple R01 grants and collaborations with industry. His work has now led to clinical trials in liver cancer space evaluating precision medicine in beta-catenin mutated hepatocellular cancers.
