Improving Outcomes in Patients with Portal Hypertension and ACLF: Beyond the Guidelines

Description

The goal of this SIG session is to present new data that complements new guidelines for clinical providers in management. Specifically, regarding prevention of decompensated cirrhosis, predicting and treating complications of cirrhosis and finally managing complications of organ failures/acute on chronic liver failure. The session is a collaborative effort between the Portal Hypertension and Acute on Chronic Liver Failure SIG groups.

Objectives

  • Review non-invasive assessments of portal hypertension and review management strategies directed at preventing decompensation
  • Review management of complications of portal hypertension in context of recent guidelines
  • Review management of complications of acute on chronic liver failure including bridging to Liver Transplantation
