Point-of-Care Ultrasound Symposium (POCUS)

In 2026, there will be two sessions. The first opportunity is from 8 a.m. - noon, and the second opportunity is from 2 -6 p.m. CDT.

This interactive symposium at Digestive Disease Week® 2026 introduces POCUS as an extension of the bedside clinical exam for hepatology providers. Through expert-led instruction and hands-on scanning, participants gain applicable skills while learning when, why, and how to integrate POCUS.
Designed for both new and experienced users, this symposium focuses on building confidence and efficiency by pairing ultrasound fundamentals with real-world hepatology applications.
Learning Objectives
At the end of the session, participants will be able to:
-Apply foundational principles of ultrasonography relevant to adult and pediatric liver disease.
-Identify advanced POCUS features relevant to hepatology care.
-Integrate POCUS into the management of hospitalized patients with liver disease.
-Perform focused liver POCUS examinations using basic technical skills.
-Recognize high-impact clinical applications of POCUS in inpatient and outpatient hepatology practice.
