Management of Portal Hypertension in patients with HCC is very challenging. There
are several areas that remain controversial including bleeding risk from
gastroesophageal varices in the setting of systemic therapy with Anti-VEGF based
combinations for HCC. The optimal management strategy in such patients requires
a multidisciplinary approach. Additionally, among patients with HCC presenting with
variceal bleeding, the role of TPC to manage variceal bleeding event and prevent
future bleeding during the HCC treatment is unclear. Careful selection of potential
candidates is key in these complicated situations. This webinar is intended to
provide a framework and answer commonly encountered questions in the scenarios
based on available evidence. This webinar is intended for gastroenterologists,
hepatologists, fellows, trainees and nurse practitioners. Others with an interest in
management of portal hypertension are invited to attend.
Upon completion of this activity, a participant should be able to:
· Identify the optimal management strategy for prevention of variceal bleeding in patients with HCC
· Identify the optimal treatment for acute variceal bleeding in high-risk patients with HCC, with special attention to TPC candidacy
This activity will offer AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.
