Introducing the Inaugural AASLD Impact Award

The new AASLD Impact Award was created to address recognition gaps by celebrating members who are making significant contributions now and are on a clear trajectory toward future leadership in AASLD and the field.

AASLD members who are shaping the future of hepatology through innovation, leadership, and meaningful contributions across research, clinical care, education, and mentorship are eligible and encouraged to self-nominate or nominate a peer.

Award Objectives

  • Bridge recognition gaps between early-career achievements and Distinguished Awards, AASLD’s highest honors.
  • Elevate early to mid-career members demonstrating exceptional leadership potential.
  • Advance AASLD values of innovation, inclusion, and scientific leadership across our member community.

Who Should You Nominate?

AASLD members who are:

✔ Driving innovation in scientific innovation, hepatology research, or clinical care. 
✔ Advancing education, mentorship, or training programs. 
✔ Actively engaged in AASLD and the broader hepatology community. 
✔ Demonstrating emerging leadership with future impact potential. 
✔ Early to mid-career stage.

If someone comes to mind, they’re likely a strong candidate. And it takes less than 10 minutes to nominate them. Self-nominations are welcome and encouraged.

Eligibility

Nominations must adhere to the following eligibility criteria:

  • Be an AASLD member in good standing.
  • Be within 20 years of fellowship completion (excluding interruptions).
  • Demonstrate meaningful contributions to hepatology and engagement with AASLD.
  • Self-nominations and peer nominations are welcome.
  • Awardees may be eligible for future Distinguished Awards.
  • Nominations are welcome from members who previously applied for other awards but were not selected.

How to Apply or Nominate

Step 1: Submit a Nomination

Nominators will complete a brief online form including:

  • Nominee name, institution, and contact information

Step 2: Complete Application (by invitation)

Selected nominees will be invited to submit:

  • Personal statement
  • Letter of reference
  • Abridged CV (maximum four pages)

All materials will be submitted through AASLD’s awards platform. The initial nomination takes less than 10 minutes to complete. Selected nominees will be invited to submit additional materials.

Award Benefits & Recognition

Recipients of the AASLD Impact Award will receive:

  • Complimentary registration to The Liver Meeting® (TLM) 2026, Nov. 5-9.
  • Recognition at the Awards & Honors Gala and one complimentary guest ticket.
