Alexandria, VA – July 13, 2026 – The American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) Foundation, the largest medical society funding source for liver disease research and training in the United States, announced today a funding commitment of over $2 million for over 185 grantees.
This investment will fuel innovative research to advance the understanding, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of liver disease, while also expanding access to trained hepatology providers and strengthening the global community of investigators working toward cures.

Since its inception, AASLD Foundation and AASLD have provided over $65 million to more than 2,500 grantees to support liver-related research and training.
Funded entirely by donor generosity, the AASLD Foundation continues to champion the future of hepatology by investing in bold ideas, emerging leaders, and research with the power to change countless lives. This year alone, more than 1,000 donors contributed over $700,000 to fund these important awards.
